Annual in-service education for Certified Medication Aides (CMAs)

The Texas Medication Aide Registry (MAR) renewal process requires all CMAs to complete 7 hours of approved in-service education over 1 year period.

This computer-based training, consisting of six (6)modules, varying from 30 minutes to 1, 5 hours. The  six(6)6 modules are one of the options we offer to meet the in-Service Education Requirements for Medication Aides in the State of Texas.

Six Learning modules for Certified Medication Aide Annual In-service Education:

• Role of the Medication Aide on the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) (1 hour)
• Communication Skills for Medication Aides (1 hour)
• Role of Medication Aide in meeting the psychosocial needs of residents (1 hour)
• Infection control and Medication administration (30 minutes)
• Skills and technique for Medication Aides (1 hour)
• Drug review and update, such as review of new drugs, drugs frequently used in facilities and/or avoiding common medication errors (1,5 hours)
